RESIDENCE JETTE

Location: Jette
Client: Private

The project combines the renovation of the main house with the construction of a new garden studio. The house is part of a historic ensemble of four homes dating from 1892, and one of them has already been heavily altered and lost some original features. The rear outbuildings are in poor condition and interrupt the connection between the living space and the garden, so the rear façade is straightened and opened up to bring in more light. The gable roof is replaced with an insulated flat roof, creating full-height usable spaces below. The front cornice is raised to match the left neighbor, giving the façade a more complete form and improving daylight. Wooden infill panels are added on both sides of the front and rear façades to limit overlooking. Each floor includes a terrace, and fixed planters are integrated with the rear terraces to preserve privacy. The second intervention is a freestanding studio in the garden, designed as a calm and pleasant place for working from home with open views of the greenery. The project improves livability and energy performance through insulation, solar panels, local and circular materials, and maximum daylight.
