The “Underwater Lounge” won second place in the Independent category at the HUS Prize “Design & Engineering,” an award recognizing the best projects in marine and underwater technologies. The Underwater Lounge aims to democratize access to the underwater environment while respecting the natural oceanic setting. The project creates the first oceanic space that allows a broader public—elderly people, cruise passengers, children, companions of divers, and others—to experience the underwater world. Activities in this “underwater lounge” are optional: visitors can observe and interact with the underwater space, the fish, and the divers, while also chatting, having a drink, reading, sunbathing, relaxing… in short, feeling comfortable in this lounge.
