HUB FOR SMALL ENTERPRISES PORT LE HAVRE

Location: Le Havre
Client: Shema

The “Quai des Jumeaux” project aims to stimulate economic activity along the canal of Le Havre, building on the existing context. It focuses on transhipment and on young companies that add value to goods flows. The site occupies a strategic position within the urban fabric, at the interface between city and port, along a connecting axis and a bridge linking both sides. The project is not only economic but also urban. It frames the transition between city and port as a deliberate contrast, making port operations, especially transhipment, visible to the public. It introduces a new type of public space for residents, students and workers, where port activity acts as a backdrop to urban life. Given its proximity to the city and nearby academic institutions, the program targets start-ups and innovative enterprises. The site is conceived as a business hub or nursery, where companies share facilities such as parking, storage, reception areas, meeting rooms, restaurant and administrative services. The gateway between city and port is marked by two large, analogous volumes: the twins. These buildings mediate between both domains, appearing as massive landmarks that structure movement between city and port.
